Careers360: How should a student decide between BA LLB, BBA LLB and B.Com LLB?

Dr. Daisy Alexander: The choice of course between BA LLB, BBA LLB and B.Com LLB depends on the students’ area of interest and the sector in which they want to build their career. If a student is inclined towards the areas such as governance, administration, politics and other legal sectors, he/she can choose BA LLB. For management or corporate sectors, students can choose BBA LLB. Students having interest in finance, commerce or so can choose B.Com LLB.

Careers360: What is MAHE Entrance Test (MAHEET)? Would CLAT scores be taken into consideration or only MAHEET?

Dr. Daisy Alexander: MAHE conducts MAHEET which is an entrance test for the admission in different courses. However, this year admission will be based on the personal interview and icro presentation. MAHEET scores will be taken into consideration from 2023-24..

No, CLAT scores will not be taken into consideration for the admission at Manipal Law School, MAHE Bengaluru.

Careers360: What is the micro presentation? Is it mandatory for students to show for admissions?

Dr. Daisy Alexander: Micro-presentation is the process where students will be assessed on their communication skills and knowledge about the field in which they want to build their career. Students will be provided a choice of topics or a single topic on which they have to give a small presentation. Basically the interview round is the process to connect with the students.

Careers360: Please throw some light on the different Moot Court practices, Trial Advocacy and Alternate Dispute Resolution techniques etc.

Dr. Daisy Alexander: These are one of the important aspects of the LLB courses which make students ready for their career field. Moot court is basically mock court sessions where students practice how to debate for the cases. Many retired judges are also invited to the moot court. Alternate Dispute Resolution technique is a method of resolving disputes without litigation. It includes processes such as mediation, arbitration, conciliation, negotiation, and transaction.

Careers360: Internships are mandatory for the law courses. What kind of internships are provided to the students of Manipal Law School, MAHE Bengaluru?

Dr. Daisy Alexander: LLB courses at MAHE Bengaluru is approved by the Bar Council of India. It is mandatory for students to go for 4-weeks of internship per year. For internship, students can join various NGO, research work, judicial internship under the supervision of a lawyer or judge, law firms etc.

Dr. Daisy Alexander: Manipal Law School, MAHE Bengaluru is planning to have collaborations with English Solicitors. We have Bombay Incorporated Law Society who recognizes solicitors. We are also planning to have international moot courts which will benefit students in their career. Collaboration with international universities for the research programmes is also there.

Dr. Daisy Alexander: Nowadays every field needs the use of law. Even companies give preferences to the students who have dual degrees such as BA with LLB or BBA with LLB etc. If anyone have any interest in law, they can pursue it along with their other profession or course.
