Careers360: What is your take on the initial days at your institution/university campus considering that it is the time to build contacts, and understand the processes? Could you give details on the support given by the institute?
Prateek: Due to the pandemic, our sessions and classes initially conducted online, posing a challenge in forming interpersonal connections. However, the mentors and professors played a pivotal role in breaking the ice and fostering conversations among students. Recognising the importance of meaningful connections I took the initiative to engage more actively by speaking up and posing questions during online classes and sessions. This helped me overcome my anxiety about public speaking and also encouraged others to participate. The teachers and guest lecturers recognised and appreciated my efforts, offering their support and actively assisting students in building these valuable connections.

Prateek: The teachers and alumni helped me a lot throughout my journey at Chitkara University, and they are the assets of the university. I learned a lot while interacting with the seniors and alumni during our guest lectures. I am also very grateful to my teachers, who provided me with assistance whenever I felt stuck.

Prateek: As mentioned earlier, we had a lot of guest sessions, and I was able to build a strong network with a few of our lecturers. The university also provided me with many other opportunities. I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to visit Nottingham University, Malaysia, for an international summer school programme, where I was able to interact with people of many nationalities and ethnicities, some of whom I am still in contact with. Participating in fests and contests allowed me to form peer groups with students from other departments.
