About: Chitkara College of Pharmacy, situated within Chitkara University in Rajpura, was founded in 2005. Chitkara College of Pharmacy courses offered are BPharm, PharmD, PharmD (PB), MPharm, and MSc Pharmacovigilance. Chitkara College of Pharmacy admissions is granted through a combination of merit-based selection and entrance examinations, followed by a counselling process if required.
Careers360: Tell us something about yourself.
Smriti: My name is Smriti, and I belong to Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. Currently, I'm in my final year as an undergraduate student at Chitkara University, Punjab, where I'm pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy. Outside of academics, I have a passion for creating embroidery patterns and indulging in culinary adventures to tantalise my taste buds.
Careers360: What programme or major are you currently enrolled in and what factors did you consider while choosing Chitkara University and its programme?
Smriti: I was really intrigued by pharmaceuticals and the discovery of new medicines during the COVID pandemic, so I decided to pursue a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. I always wanted to study at a well-renowned university to widen my horizon, and while researching my coursework and university rankings, I came across numerous universities, but I was particularly impressed by Chitkara University culture, infrastructure, academics, and, most importantly, the motto, “Explore your Potential”, which emphasises working on inner capabilities to shine. I had also heard many positive things about the university from my family friends' children who were studying at the university.
Careers360: What does the Chitkara University admission process look like?
Smriti: There are particular prerequisites and documentation required to be completed by students in order to meet the eligibility criteria for the course in which they have enrolled. The procedure was quite straightforward, and professionals extended a helping hand to assist with any concerns and guided them through the process of finding the curriculum of their choice. Chitkara College of Pharmacy admission process and the response from the institute was very satisfactory and encouraging.
Careers360: How do you manage your time to balance academics, extracurricular activities, and social life? Any academic challenges you faced.
Smriti: Balancing academics, extracurriculars, and social life demands effective time management. I maintain a structured schedule, allocating specific time for each activity. Overcoming academic challenges involves seeking help from professors and peers, and utilising study groups and consultations. Chitkara College of Pharmacy facilities offer diverse extracurricular opportunities, enriching my experience. I prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently while ensuring that connect with friends and family for well-being. Flexibility is crucial, recognising that priorities may shift. By staying organised, seeking support when needed, and prioritising self-care, I navigate university life successfully, enjoying a fulfilling experience.
Careers360: Are you involved in any clubs, sports, or organisations on campus? How do these activities contribute to your overall college experience?
Smriti: Despite not joining clubs, I actively participated in events like darts, badminton, and poster competitions. My university offered chances to showcase research on prestigious platforms, like presenting posters at esteemed universities and networking with renowned professors. Under mentor guidance, I authored articles, enhancing academic growth and developing research and writing skills. Though I missed club involvement, I seized other opportunities to enhance my academic and professional profile during university.
Careers360: How has college helped you grow personally and professionally? How does college help you stay updated on relevant industry trends or academic resources?
Smriti: Personally, the university served as a transition, preparing me to be independent in my decision-making abilities and actively participate in all activities. It allowed me to leverage my skills and expertise to solve societal issues and effect positive change. Our chancellor designed “The Chancellor's Desk Volume” to help you learn about various professional development skills. The university organises conferences and events to expand our knowledge and skills in specific fields, as well as industry-related curriculum and collaboration with universities across the world to learn about advancements in particular fields.
Careers360: Could you give details on the industry connection that is inbuilt with the course at Chitkara University and its advantages?
Smriti: Chitkara University served as the ideal platform for networking with renowned academicians and industrial professionals. It has great partnerships with pharmaceutical companies all around India and overseas, which broaden the perspectives of learners in the real world through collaborations, seminars, summer school programs, and conferences.
Careers360: How advantageous, in your opinion, is your institution/university alumni network connection, and in what ways?
Smriti: The value of an institution is significantly increased when its graduates go on to work for prominent organisations.
