see cutoff score changes every year and it depends on some factors like number of candidtes, question difficulty level, candidates category, seat matrix, see at this rank you have less chances for iits as per last year cutoff. I suggest you to apply for other stte government colleges and central universities as well.

see at this score you have less chances for iits, since seat in take is less for msc in biotechnology courses in iits. however in nits there is mtech in biotechnology is available. you may check the below links to know about CCMN 3rd round counselling cutoff according to category wise.

I suggest you to apply for other state government colleges and university like banaras hindu university, delhi university, etc.

As per the eligibility criteria for M.Sc Chemistry at IITs you should have studied Chemistry for three years / six semesters during your Bachelors degree.You should have also studied Mathematics in your 10+2 level to be eligible for the same.

NIT Agartala - 1456
NIT Hamirpur - 1288
NIT Jalandhar - 1255
NIT Jamshedpur - 1355
You have a chance of getting admission in the above NITs.
For NIT Tiruchirappalli the closing rank is 728.

Since your rank is 1236 in jam, then you have no chance of getting any IITs if you belong to general Or obc category. As the last rank of any IIT WAS 480.
But if you belong to st category then you may get biotechnology, chemistry of geophysics in IITS.
