Careers360: Tell us something about the institute; when it was set up, vision and mission.

Answer: Thakur Global Business School (TGBS), managed by Zagdu Singh Charitable Trust (ZCT), was established in the year 2020. Based on the directive and approval from AICTE and the Government of Maharashtra, TGBS has taken over the last 20 years of legacy in designing and delivering cutting-edge PGDM programme from Thakur Institute of Management and Research (TIMSR) which was established in 2002.

Vision - To emerge as an institution renowned for imparting global management education to excel as mindful leaders.

Mission - To provide holistic education for students by imbibing self-management to bring in social transformation. To develop the capability of continuous learning, innovative business practices with ethical values

Careers360: Tell us something about the admission process?

Answer: The TGBS admission process is as follows:

  • Announcements of commencement of admissions to the PGDM programme is initiated through various media channels

  • Students are invited to the campus for any inquiries regarding admissions

  • Students are escorted for a tour of the complete campus

  • Students are provided details regarding the program and the guidance for specializations

  • Student Eligibility is verified as per the following criteria: Graduate in any discipline with minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) from a University, recognized by UGC/ Association of Indian universities (AIU/AICTE) + Should have appeared for / appearing for any one of the competitive entrance exams such as CAT, CMAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA, GMAT and MAH MBA CET

  • Academic Documents including SSC, HSC and Graduation Marksheets and Certificates are verified

  • Eligible students fill up an Application Form to enroll for the admission Process

  • Students are invited for Group Discussions and Personal Interview (GD – PI)

  • On the day of GD - PI students are providing a briefing of the programme

  • Students appear for the GD – PI

  • Post GD – PI students interact with the Director

  • Student selection is done on the basis merit based on the performance in the GD – PI round

  • Results are communicated to the students

  • Students pay the fees for the program and submit the required documents

  • Students admissions are confirmed once fees, requisite KYC documents, academic marksheets, and entrance exam scorecards are received

  • Students are communicated on the induction and commencement of program

Careers360: What kind of infrastructure can students expect at the institute? Please elaborate?

Answer: At TGBS, we offer world class technology enabled infrastructure to our students. Along with a state-of-the-art, air conditioned building, classrooms, lecture halls, computer labs, discussion rooms, a seminar center and a high capacity auditorium; students also have access to a next generation fintech lab, audio visual equipment, an RFID enabled learning resource center loaded with physical and digital learning assets, an ideation room, an Entrepreneurship and Innovation center, refreshments hall, a canteen, a Wi-Fi enabled campus, an indoor sports room and an outdoor playground. TGBS’ campus is gated, CCTV enabled and physically guarded. Students can also avail a hostel facility for girls and boys in the vicinity of the campus.

Careers360: There is a lot of stress that is being made with regard to interaction with the industry as well as companies that recruit. What are the steps being taken by the institute in this direction?

Answer: Industry Institute interaction is critical for the fitment in the demand supply of talent requirements of the Industry. At TGBS, for student development, we have specific focus in proactively engaging the Industry with activities such as Industry Certifications, Corporate Trainings, Live Projects, Pre-Placement Simulation Sessions, Industry Leaders sessions, Industry Tours, Industry Emergent Trends and SME Sessions, National / Global Event Analysis sessions, participating Corporate Events and Seminars, CSR and Sustainability Projects, Alumni Sessions, organizing and participation in Corporate Events, Seminars, Research Conferences and Domain specific Conclaves. We have ‘Masterclasses’ and ‘Learning with Legends’ sessions conducted by industry leaders for our students and faculty to understand and address the emerging trends and global management concepts that are prevalent in the industry.

Our faculty are also involved with the industry through internships, joint market research, consultancy assignments and management development programs. We invite the industry to contribute in designing and delivering our program curriculum, developing customized learning material, guiding the students as an Industry Mentor and participating in their academic evaluation. We also receive sponsorships for student events, entrepreneur incubators, student scholarships and awards. We also encourage and enroll industry leaders as professional chairs at the institute, as members of the Governing Council, College Development Committee, Advisory Committee and Placement Committee. We have MoUs with leading industries for our mutual commitment to nurture and nourish leaders that are resourceful, relevant and ready to address the emerging global trends and events.

Careers360: Internships are now mandatory as per AICTE guidelines. Does the institute help students with this? If yes, how?

Answer: Internship is to give students an opportunity to apply management concepts learnt, explore how a particular industry works, network with industry peers. understand the emergent trends in the market, interact with clients and analyze real world business problems.

Summer Internship is a compulsory requirement of the two-year full-time PGDM programme. Every student of the programme is expected to work in the industry for the period of 2 months (typically in the months of May & June). Most of our students have had paid Summer Internships and have been offered Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) post completion of their Summer Internships.

All students seeking placement assistance for summer internship register with the placement cell by reading, understanding the placement policy and signing the placement undertaking. The TGBS Placement Cell reaches out to prospective companies for internship requirements. Information of the registered candidates is shared with the prospective employer, by the Placement Cell. Companies shortlist the candidates on the basis of information provided by the students in their registration profile or resume or any other criteria decided by the concerned company. Companies then share the internship offer letters with students intimating the Placement cell.

Careers360: Can you please share details if there is any collaboration with universities abroad?

Answer: At TGBS, we offer students an opportunity for international exposure with our collaborations with the Seneca Canada; MAGES Institute of Excellence – Singapore; Whiteria and WelTec institutes - New Zealand, Saskatchewan Polytechnic - Canada and the Council of EU Chambers of Commerce in India. Along with this TGBS also has International Experts visiting from Jellyfish Training, UK; SIBS, Switzerland; College of St. Benedict / St. John’s University, USA; GSICS, Japan; University College, UK; James Cook University, Singapore, Consulate of China and Consulate of Switzerland.

We also partner with national level training and certification institutions such as Imarticus Learning, EU India Chambers, Middle earthr, Cloud Learn ERP, EduShots, Conceptual Finance, Being Sevak and many more.

Careers360: Please share placement statistics with information on the average package, highest and lowest package, number of students placed and details of companies that have recruited.

Answer: In the AY 2022 – 23, 200+ companies have visited the campus and all the students enrolled for placement assistance have been placed. We have had the likes of HDFC Ltd, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd, Godrej & Boyce, Bandhan Bank, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Federal Bank, RBL Bank, ITC, Parag Milk Foods, Ujjivan SFB, Chandak Group, Lodha Group, Sunteck Realty, Piramal Realty, Tech Mahindra, Zycus, BNP Paribas, Aditya Birla Finance Ltd, Institutional Shareholder Services India Pvt. Ltd (ISS) recruit our students. The highest CTC is Rs 10.42 LPA and the Average CTC is Rs 5.5 LPA.
