You have a greater chance of getting admission in these NIT's.
Hey, if you are lucky enough then you can get IIT Palakkad or Jodhpur or Patna or Dhanbad or Ropar or other IITs that are comparatively new if that 600 rank was the general rank. Try to go till the last rounds of seat allocation because you will not be able to get any IIT during 1st or 2nd round of seat allocation. Best of luck.

As per the eligibility criteria of CCMN Counselling specified by the organisation it has one of the criteria's as:
Candidates must have qualified JAM 2020.
Since you haven't cleared the qualifying cutoff and it is one of the criteria's specified by the counselling board you are not eligible to apply for the counselling process.

It will not be possible to change your category from general to OBC easily by producing proper category certificate during admission process. There is provision for changing your category from OBC to general of you do not show the proper papers but the vice-versa may not be true but you should try it during the paper verification process. Since your rank is 1836 for Physics in GEN category you cant get a seat in some of the top IIT's but you would get a seat in some of the IIT's like : IIT Gandhinagar,IIT Patna,IIT Dhanbad and you would get a seat in some of the NIT's .

The cutoff marks of IIT JAM 2020 in chemistry is 16.96 for general category.
As per your rank you can get College of your choice and stream in some good NIT's like NIT Trichy, NIT surathkal, NIT HAmirpur, NIT Calicut, you can go through the trend of past year cutoff for these colleges and then get an idea as to which colleges will be best for you.
