Hello,
With graduation in Zoology you can write BL, BT papers. The questions in BL paper is usually biology, logical reasoning and mathematical applications of biology. In BT paper you have biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics. With JAM score you are able to apply for IISc, IISERs, NIT Rourkela, IITs.
So preparation should to download previous year question paper along with solution available at JAM website. Try to understand the pattern, the marks both positive and negative, dominant questions. In BL, molecular biology and immunology is the dominant one. As well as if you do not have negative marks, you are able to attend even if it is expected to be wrong without lose of marks. In negative marking, answer only the ones that you are sure. In BL most questions seem to be easy so everyone can score more or less the same marks in positive scoring. And they may lose out those positive marks with their wrong answers in negative scoring. Mathematical abilities are needed of basics in BL paper.
You can download previous year question papers at https://jam.iitkgp.ac.in/?id=p&n=601

See as you want to pursue MSc in physics from nit Surathkal. But as you are saying that you want to go in without writing IIT JAM. But I don't think so it is possible to get a seat in it without passing the exam with a good score.
As IIT JAM is the most important exam which everyone needs to give in order to do msc from their desired college.
Thank you.
