Hello Maroof,
Congratulations on your performance!
The conducting body of Joint Admission Test for M.Sc programmes declares the cutoff of JAM for each test subject individually. Candidates will be allotted a scorecard based on the cut off scores which will be required for further admission processes.
The cut off scores are usually determined by various factors, such as number of applicants, categories of caste and difficulty of the question papers.
The expected cut off score for IIT JAM Biotechnology 2020 are as follows:
General : 20.93-24.93
OBC : 18.64-22.64
SC/ST/PwD : 9.46-13.46
Based on the above data, you have a really high probability of getting selected.
Hope this helps you. We wish you the best for your future endeavours!

Hi,
Well sometimes the students might be allowed who belong to other background to apply for mac in other subjects specially in private colleges but the major issue is qualifying the entrance exam as the exam syllabus includes the subject related questions.
I hope my answer helps.
All the best.
As you perseved 74.67 percentile of marks in IIT jam geology in 2020 and you wanted to get seat in IIT bombay which is situated in Maharashtra state and it is among one in top 5 IITuniversities and you may or may not get seat in that IIT bombay but chances are very less according to your percentile of marks so study well and work hard to get good marks in the future examinations ALL THE BEST for your future and i think my suggestions and knowledge may be helpful to u.
Shivani, To be honest, it is very difficult to predict the cutoffs and the predicted rank of IIT JAM Mathematics, but we can make use of previous year trends to calculate the expected rank and cutoff. Firstly discussing with respect to the cutoff, it would be very difficult for you to clear the cutoff if your category is general but as in your case, of belonging to SC category, you may just clear the cutoffs as many coaching institutions predict this years cutoff to be around 20 but your chances of getting a good college is rather small. However, predicting the rank is a bit more difficult as it also depends on factors like total number of candidates and difficulty level of exam which varies every year and we cannot predict the toughness of this years' paper and its effect on the rank as of now. However, looking at past few years trends , you can expect a rank close to 7000-8000 in GENERAL RANK list (and not the category rank list which is very difficult to predict at this point of time), maybe even less depending on the variables as discussed above. However, it is still advised that do not rely totally on these predictions as they are largely dependent on previous years trends, however, it does help us in understanding our chances.
Hope this helps.
Hello Anu
Every IISER has different norms. It depends upon the number of applicants getting an interview call letter. If you consider last year Scenario then IISER Pune called till rank 550 whereas IISER Mohali called each and everyone.
So, yes you can apply.
Hey!
If you are from ST Category, then you have good chances of getting IIT.
The previous year IIT-JAM cutoffs for St category for various subjects are:
Chemistry- 10.15
Physics-12.49
Mathematics- 11.48
Mathematical Statistics- 8.04
Geology- 17.54
Biotechnology- 11.46
This year as well, the cut offs are expected to be around this only. So, you have chances of getting into IITs.
Hope this answer helps!
