First of all, you need to know the IIT JAM SYLLABUS & exam pattern. As early as you know syllabus and exams pattern , you can start preparing few month before exams .
You don't need to cover whole syllabus . But whatever she is good at , you should study those things very well and clear all the doubts and concepts of that topic. As far as my concern I had study everything except electronics and statistical mechanics ( because in my personal opinion I found it boring ) . I had study only some of specific topics of electronics.
You should try more and more questions . You can solve at least previous 5 years question papers of IIT jam of physics. You should select a chapter wise book for jam questions paper because after studying a specific topic , you can solve it's questions.
You must take at least 2 - 3 online mock test . Online test series will definitely help you in exams . For online mock test I selected career Endeavour test . But you can also select any of test series of fiziks or vpn or any other coaching
During exams , Don't try to waste too much time on a single questions . Every question is important.

Quantum mechanics - Dj Griffiths is a outstanding book for quantum . If you wants to study more specifically than you can also study R Shankar.
Electrodynamics - Again sameDj Griffiths
Mechanics - i didn't need a specific book for mechanics , I just studied H C verma . That was enough.
Other topics
Thermodynamics - M W Zemansky
Electronics - electronics ofMilman and Halkias is more than enough .
Solid state physics - I had the solid state physics of charles keetle . But that is excellent book.
Optics - Ajoy ghatak is quite awesome book in case of optics .
Mathematical physics - According to me , one of the easiest topic of all .Mathematical physics of mary l broas is awesome book.
You should solve more and more questions that will help her in gaining knowledge and concepts.

How to prepare for JAM physics subject:
1- Guys, firstly buy combined (contain seven paper) questions with solutions books like samvedna publications.
2- Since Jam physics syllabus contain inter syllabus so read inter book and deeply understood the basic theory.
3- Increase the ability to solve the problem on each topic for this you also buy any practice set like arihant publications iit jam physics practice set.
Here I want share some important topic of each paper of iit jam physics. On these topic, more probability to asked que in exam.
In Mathematical method - FOURIER SERIES, Matrix, Algebra of complex numbers
In Mechanics and general property of matter - central force, Moment of inertia, Gravitational low.
In oscillation, wave and optics - Travelling and standing wave, Group velocity and wave velocity, doppler effect, Diffraction of light, Polarisation.
In electricity and magnetism - in this paper all topics are important.
In kinetic theory, Thermodynamics - Mean free parh, degree of freedom, Second law of thermodynamics and ENTROPY, Themodynomical potential, questions on isothermal and adiabatic formulas.

In modern physics - the most important topic is Schordinger equation(calculations of energy of given state, wavelength , dimensional box problems) , in this I suggest to solve all type of question related to schordinger equation,Radioactivity, special theory of relativity.
Solid state physics, electronics device - Since I am electronics students so this paper was very easy for me, but I consult in this paper you guys solve boolean algebra, Transistor problem, I suggest read all the portion of this paper because this portion is very Easy.
I read only 5 paper. One important thing if you join any online preparation site then you will get very benefit.
In exam time two things are important
1-Read questions very carefully, care each point on given questions.
2- online practice some que papers, because pattern is online so for properly use of virtual calculator and for your speed this is important.

Hello Sir. IIT JAM Exam for all the seven papers will be carried out in computer-based mode. The questions will be displayed in a random sequence on the computer screen. Duration of all the papers will be 3 hours each.
This year, IIT Kharagpur has scheduled IIT JAM 2019 for February 10 in two sessions. The entire paper will be divided into three sections viz.
Section A – 30 Questions
Section B – 10 Questions
Section C – 20 questions
There are seven objective-type test papers in IIT JAM, named as Chemistry (CY), Physics (PH), Mathematics (MA), Geology (GG), Biological Sciences (BL), Mathematical Statistics (MS), Biotechnology (BT).
Negative marking will be applicable only for section A. As for the negative marking, for each wrong answer in the 1 mark question, 1/3 of marks will be deducted and for 2 marks questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted.
No marks will be deducted for un-attempted questions.
Each paper will have 60 question for a total of 100 marks.
