College placements play a vital role in choosing the right university to apply for agriculture and allied sciences. Many students prefer the top NIRF agricultural universities to pursue their education. However, if a university is at the top of the NIRF ranking 2026 list it doesn’t mean that the university has better placement opportunities compared to the other universities. In some cases, universities with lower NIRF 2026 ranking can have better placements than the universities with better NIRF ranking 2026.

According to the NIRF Agriculture report 2026, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) outperforms 6 out of top 10 NIRF Agricultural universities 2026. The OUAT has recorded 263 placements with a ratio of 47.56% from 553 students who graduated in UG 4 year programme at 2022-23 academic year. Similarly, the university has recorded 320 placements from 378 graduates with a ratio of 84.66% in PG 2 year programme at 2024-25 academic year.
According to the OUAT NIRF report 2026, the university recorded 377 placements out of 595 graduates with a ratio of 63.36% for 4 year UG programme at 2024-25 academic year with a median salary of 6 lakhs. Whereas, the median salary for UG 4 year programme in 2023-24 and 2022-23 is also 6 lakhs and 5.6 lakh with placement ratio of 50.59% and 47.56% respectively.

For the PG 2 year programme, the placement ratio for the academic year 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25 academic year is 74.07%, 81.06%, and 84.66% respectively. Whereas, for 2022-23 academic year the median salary is 8.28 lakh and the number of graduated students are 220. However, the median salary for academic year 2023-24 is 7.68 lakhs with 261 graduates and 320 graduates with 7.8 lakhs for 2024-25 academic year.

OUAT offered placements consistently higher than 6 of the top 10 NIRF agriculture universities over the past three years with above 60 percent. Whereas, top 10 NIRF agriculture universities like Panjab Agriculture University, Banaras Hindu University, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University offered placements with only 29.54%, 30.76% and 30.94% respectively.
IARI recorded only 5.52% got placements in 2024-25 academic year for PG 2 year programme. Similarly, 11.44% got placements in 2023-24 academic year and 10.88% secured placements in 2022-23 academic year.
