Students can calculate their JAM exam scores with the help of the answer key and their recorded responses. The IIT JAM result date 2025 is March 19. But why wait so long when you have everything you need to calculate your score? The IIT JAM answer key 2025 is released on February 14, along with the response sheet.
With the help of JAM answer key and response sheet candidates can easily estimate their exam scores. All you have to do is compare your recorded responses with the answer key and evaluate their scores based on JAM marking schemes. To calculate the scores, students need to calculate the positive and negative markings in JAM 2025. To learn more about the JAM score calculator and other relevant details, read the entire article.

Section | Type of Questions | Marks per Question | Negative Marking |
A | Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) |
| 1/3 mark for 1 mark questions 2/3 mark for 2 mark questions |
B | Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) | 2 marks | No negative marking |
C | Numerical Answer Type (NAT) | 10 questions: 1 mark 10 questions: 2 marks | No negative marking |
The JAM 2025 has negative marking. However, students must be aware that only Section A in JAM exam has negative marking. There are no penalties for answering wrong in Section B and C questions.
For one mark questions (A):
IIT JAM score = {(number of correct answers*1)-(number of incorrect answers*⅓)}
For two marks questions (B):
IIT JAM score = {(number of correct answers*1)-(number of incorrect answers*⅔)}
Finally, IIT JAM final score = (A+B)
Not understanding the Marking Scheme: Students must be aware of how marks and negative marking work.
Neglecting Negative Marking: Skip uncertain answers in Section A.
Not checking answer key properly: Students are advised to always refer to a trusted answer key for accuracy. (Check Careers360 website for details)
Not Keeping Track of Responses: Maintain a clear record of your JAM answers.

With 28.33 marks and AIR 1269 in JAM you have reasonable chance of securing admission in NITs and IISERs such as NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal , IISERs and NIT Surathkal.
To check if your rank of 2224 in JAM 2025 Math (GEN) is good enough for an NIT, it's important to look at the previous years' cutoffs and trends for Mathematics in various NITs. Generally, a rank like 2224 could allow admission to some NITs, especially in specific categories, but the chances depend heavily on the specific NIT and the course demand.
I would recommend checking the detailed JAM 2025 cutoff trends for Mathematics on the Careers360 website or consulting their JAM College Predictor to get a more precise idea based on recent data.
