AMU Eligibility CriteriaAMU Eligibility Criteria 2018 - Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has released the eligibility criteria of AMU 2018 for the admissions to various B.A, B.Com, B.Sc. and PG Programmes. The Aligarh Muslim University admission notification (Guide to Admission 2018-19) states the eligibility criteria for admissions to AMU 2018.  The candidates need to match the different AMU eligibility criteria mentioned before applying for any particular programme. AMU eligibility criteria 2018 states that the candidates must have a minimum of at least 50 – 55 percent marks aggregate depending on the programme they select. The age limit for applying to a programme will differ according to the criteria mentioned and the programme the candidate wishes to apply. The exam will be held in two different sessions (Morning and Evening) on April 15, 16, and June 5, 2018, respectively for the different programmes. This article is a detailed description of the Eligibility criteria of AMU 2018.

B.Sc. (Hons.) Home Science

Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 55% marks aggregate of English and three subjects from amongst Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Home Science

B.A. (Hons.)

Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks aggregate of English and three Subjects from amongst Accountancy, Arabic, Banking, Biology, Biotechnology, Business Organization, Business Studies, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, Education, English, Fine Arts, Geography, Hindi, History, Home Science, Islamic Studies, Mathematics, Persian, Philosophy, Physical Health Education, Physics, Political Science/Civics, Psychology, Sanskrit, Sociology, Statistics, Urdu and Modern Indian Languages (Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi and Kashmiri).

OR Degree/Sanad from recognized Madarsa/Institution with at least 50% marks

OR Bridge Course (for Graduates of Deeni Madaris) from AMU with at least 50% marks

B. Com. (Hons.)

Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (Commerce) or an equivalent examination with not less than 55% marks aggregate in English and Accounts and two subjects from amongst Economics, Business Studies, Business Organization, Commerce, Banking, Entrepreneurship, Mathematics and/or Statistics.

OR Diploma in Secretarial Practice examination of this University with not less than 55% marks (in theory subjects only) aggregate.

B.A. (Hons.) Foreign Languages

Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks aggregate.

B.Sc. (Hons.)

Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 55% marks aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics. For admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) with Botany/Zoology as Main Subject, the candidate should have passed Biology at the qualifying examination.

M.Sc. (Biotechnology)

Bachelors Degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences (those who have studied Chemistry as one of the subsidiary subjects may also be considered eligible), Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, and/or a Bachelors degree in Engineering and Technology (B. Tech.) or Medicine (M.B.B.S.) or B. Pharma with 55% marks or candidates who have successfully completed M.Sc. I year in relevant discipline with 55% marks or who have obtained B.Sc. degree under the pattern of education other than 10+2+3.

B.Sc. (Hons.)

Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 55% marks aggregate of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics. Note: For admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) with Physics / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications as Main Subject, the candidate should have passed Mathematics at the qualifying examination.

B.A. (Hons.)

Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks aggregate in English and three Subjects from amongst Accountancy, Arabic, Banking, Biology, Biotechnology, Business Organization, Business Studies, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, Education, English, Fine Arts, Geography, Hindi, History, Home Science, Islamic Studies, Mathematics, Persian, Philosophy, Physical Health Education, Physics, Political Science /Civics, Psychology, Sanskrit, Sociology, Statistics, Urdu and Modern Indian Languages (Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi and Kashmiri).

Master of Social Work (MSW)

B.A. / B. Sc. / B. Com. / B.S.W. / B. Tech. / B. Arch. / B.E. / M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. / B.R.T.T. / B.U.M.S. / B.B.A. / B.C.A. / B.A.LL.B. with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

AMU Eligibility Criteria 2018 - Important Points

The important points to remember regarding the eligibility criteria for AMU 2018 are:

  • Candidates must see to it that they fulfill the eligibility requirement mentioned for admission to the specific course the candidate has opted for.

  • Candidates awaiting the results of their qualifying examination can also apply for admission provided that fulfill the AMU eligibility of the concerned course at the time of admission.

  • Candidates with Disabilities are provided with a relaxation in the age limit up to a maximum of five years in admission to courses which prescribe a maximum age limit, except for those courses where such limits are prescribed by statutory/regulatory councils governing such admissions.

  • For admission to a Course in the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Science and Life Sciences where the qualifying examination is Bachelor’s degree, the candidates must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility requirement in terms of qualifying examination in respect of the Main Subject / Subsidiary Subject(s) / Major Subject(s) defined as follows:

a) Main Subject: The subject studied by the candidate in the First Year, Second Year and as only one subject in the Third Year at Bachelor’s degree level.

b) Subsidiary Subjects: Besides the main subject, other two subjects (excluding Compulsory / Vocational Subjects) studied by the candidate in the First Year and Second Year at Bachelor’s degree Level.

c) Major Subject: If the candidate has studied only two subjects in the Third Year at Bachelor’s degree level from amongst the three subjects (excluding Compulsory / Vocational Subjects) studied in the First Year and Second Year, the same will be designated as Major Subject(s).

  • A candidates application form may be rejected is he/she doesn't fulfill the AMU 2018 eligibility criteria.

AMU 2018 Application Form were available until March 11, 2018. Candidates must make sure to check the important dates related to the exam for future reference. AMU 2018 will be held in Morning and Evening sessions on April 15, 16, and June 5, 2018, respectively for the different programmes.
