Delhi-NCR, Ghaziabad, December 20, 2024 – Wipro Ltd-India (“Wipro”), a leading global information technology company, and KIET Group of Institutions, Delhi-NCR, Ghaziabad, are pleased to announce the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering industry-academia collaboration to enhance students’ employability in the IT services sector.
The MoU was signed on December 20, 2024 by and between Mr. Vivek Kumar Khokhar (Global Delivery Head – Digital Identity, Cybersecurity & Risk Services, Wipro Ltd) and Dr. Preeti Bajaj (Director General of KIET Group of Institutions), in the presence of Dr. Manoj Goel (Joint Director- KIET), Mr. Arvind Kumar Sharma (Dean Corporate Relations & Placement Centre), SpoC from Wipro - Mr. Prayaga Venkat Surya Prakash (Global Delivery Head) and SpoCs from KIET - Dr. Abhinav Juneja (Dean CSIT & Industry and Institute Collaboration Cell) and Dr. Arun Kumar Tripathi (Dean MCA). All the deans, HoDs, Functional heads, and student coordinators from the Cybersecurity cell – KIET were also present in the MoU signing ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vivek Kumar Khokhar stated, “This collaboration reflects KIET’s commitment to nurturing talent and preparing the next generation of IT professionals for future challenges. We look forward to a fruitful partnership with KIET Group of Institutions in empowering students with cutting-edge skills.” “We are one of the best companies across the globe and the 3rd organisation to provide end-to-end cybersecurity. By 2025, the market evaluation for the cybersecurity domain shall be around 200 billion dollars. Through this partnership, we believe, we will reach greater heights in the field of cybersecurity”, he added further.
Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Director General of KIET Group of Institutions, remarked, “We are proud to partner with Wipro, a global leader in IT services. This MoU opens new avenues for our students, enabling them to gain valuable industry insights and practical experience, thereby enhancing their career prospects.”
As per the MoU, Wipro will deliver skill-based training through virtual and classroom sessions, curated in collaboration with KIET faculty, to ensure alignment with industry standards. The students from eligible branches will undergo multi-semester training, including an initial screening, advanced assessments, and personal interviews, culminating in internship opportunities. Based on their skills and performance, a few selected students may receive conditional Letters of Intent (LOI) from Wipro, with opportunities for Day 1 hiring and additional engagement sessions in their final year.
The MoU also entails the establishment of a Center of Excellence (CoE) at KIET to facilitate hands-on learning, supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure. This partnership is set to run from December 2024 to December 2025, which might extend further, after regular reviews to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with mutual goals.
Mr. Prayaga Venkat Surya Prakash (Global Delivery Head, Wipro) applauded the institute for encouraging the students to make a career in the ever-growing cybersecurity domain. He mentioned, “We had shortlisted around 10 institutions for partnership, and we have already moved ahead with KIET, and I believe that was the right decision.”
Overall, this day marked the beginning of a partnership focused on equipping students and fresh graduates with essential skills, domain knowledge, and competencies required for a successful career in the IT industry. The collaboration underscores the shared commitment of Wipro and KIET Group of Institutions to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands. The training programme aims to make participants job-ready by offering exposure to real-world IT services scenarios (specifically cybersecurity) and comprehensive professional development.
