This is due to the growing awareness of environmental issues and the desire to reduce energy use and conserve resources. As a result, civil engineers are increasingly being asked to design buildings that are sustainable, efficient and environment friendly.

Green building is a design and construction practice that seeks to reduce the environmental impact of buildings by minimizing energy use, maximizing resource efficiency, and creating a healthier living environment. This can be achieved through the use of renewable energy sources, energy-efficient appliances and lighting, water conservation, and the use of sustainable building materials.
