An Interview with Satvik Asthana, a Student at Manav Rachna University

Manav Rachna University (MRU) Faridabad is a state-private university which was established in the year 2014. Some of the regulating bodies of MRU Fariddabad include NBA (National Board of Accreditation) and NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). MRU Faridabad courses include BTech, BBA LLB (Hons), LLM, MTech, BBA, BCA, and MBA, among others.

Careers360 presents an exclusive interview with Satvik Asthana, a B.Tech Student at MRU Faridabad. In this interview Satvik shares about the campus life at Manav Rachna University.

Careers360: Tell us something about yourself such as from which place are you from?

Satvik: I am from Uttar Pradesh but my family has been living in Delhi for a long time.

Careers360: Presently which course are you pursuing and in which year are you?

Satvik: I am pursuing Btech Robotics and AI.

Careers360: Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?

Satvik: During my initial days I was mostly confused and lost. I did not know what was expected of me and how to move forward. But with time I learned these things.

Careers360: What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc for the various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?

Satvik: The institute offers multiple activities ranging from educational activities to physical activities. We have multiple clubs here the most famous ones are coding club, DSW etc. Apart from these clubs we have the MRU IEEE section where student members of IEEE get to organize events and increase their network.

Careers360: Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?

Satvik: As a hosteller my complete day is spent in the campus. I start from waking up in my room getting ready and rushing to my classes. Where I spend most of my day. After my classes I mostly sit in the lab till 4pm or 5pm depending on the projects that I have. Apart from that I spend my time strolling in the campus during the night time and stay in my room.

Careers360: Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.

Satvik: We have around 30-35 students in a class and a good teacher-student ratio. The faculty is very understanding and considers the problems of a student and helps us to overcome them as much as they can.

Careers360: What all facilities do you have in the campus? What do you like here the most which you feel is unique and differentiating?

Satvik: We have different labs for different things like: - Robotics, Electronics, Cyber Security etc. We have a sports arena as well and a shooting range. My favorite place would be the robotics lab as I spend most of my time there.

Careers360: How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?

Satvik: As a hostel resident I can say that the hostel facilities are satisfactory. The cleanliness level is very good. The mess services can be improved.

Careers360: What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?

Satvik: We have ambulances and medical rooms for quick medical attention.

Careers360: How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?

Satvik: These things can get very difficult to manage, but I am used to it right now. Currently, I have 6 projects going on, and I have been trying my best to keep my studies and projects in a balanced state. The key is to make sure you give time to everything.

Careers360: Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant are they from your point of view or students’ point of view?

Satvik: I feel they are very significant as they help us create networks and learn from our seniors and learn from their wins and losses.

Careers360: Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?

Satik: Yes, we have an in-house magazine.

Careers360: What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?

Satvik: The most popular hangout spots would be Chaigaram, Bunkyard Bistro or Crispy Burger. The most famous places nearby would be the market of Sector 21c or the Crown Interior Mall near NHPC.

Careers360: How do you spend your leisure time at campus?

Satvik: In the library or just exploring the labs.

Careers360: Do you have any Facebook page of your campus where the students express their views, jokes or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their experience of life at campus?

Satvik: Not that I know of.

Careers360: What type of companies come for campus recruitment, and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?

Satvik: Most of the companies that come here are looking for a software developer or require DSA in some form. Apart from this, we get great companies here, and the placement opportunities are very good.
