lakshanaramasamy 31st Jul, 2021

Hi aspirants

NEST exam is not much difficulty because the syllabus is mainly from 11 and 12th. The level of difficulty is somewhere between Medium to difficulty

The level of difficulty  of JMI entrance is less than CAT but sometimes at par with CMAT & sometimes less than CMAT as well. It depends upon the year to year paper as they change their Level of difficulty

As per the marking scheme of JMI 2021, the candidates will be awarded with one mark for every correct answer. For every incorrect response, 0.25 mark will be deducted.

In Nest Section I - 50 Marks and Section II-IV - 50 Marks each and 1/4 marks deducted per incorrect response .

which entrance exam is more tough ( in science ) - jmi or nest

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 30th Jul, 2021
Hello,

The difficulty level of both JMI entrance exam and NEST is somewhat similar. However the fact that JMI is very popular institute and lots of candidates apply for it with very limited number of seats makes it difficult. But if your preparation is good then you can crack both.Difficulty level doesn't matter if you preparation is good. Go through previous 5 year question papers of both the entrance exams and analyze it thoroughly. Note down the topics that are more relevant, repeated and carry more weightage and practice questions from those areas. Don't think about competition and give your best.

Hi,

NEST(National Entrance Screening Test) is conducted by NISER and UM-DAE CESB. The entrance exam is taken by the candidates seeking admission into the five year integrated M.SC program in the subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Basic Sciences and Mathematics at NISER Bhubaneshwar or UM-DAE CESB, Mumbai.

The exam pattern includes the questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics of class 11 and class 12 level. Candidates need to do at least three sections in the entrance exam.

So, basically, you need to study Physics, Chemistry(Physical, Inorganic, Organic), Biology/Mathematics of both class 11 and class 12 to appear for the entrance exam. Candidates who have passed or appearing in class 12 with science stream are eligible for the exam. Candidates belonging to general category/OBC must have 60% marks in aggregate while reserved categories need 55% aggregate marks.

Hello Aspirant,

National Entrance Screening Test or NEST is conducted by National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar along with the University of Mumbai- Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS) Mumbai. NEST is conducted by the aforesaid authorities to determine the eligibility of the candidates for admission to 5 year integrated M.Sc program in various subjects like Basic Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics at NISER Bhubaneswar or UM-DAE CEBS Mumbai.

You can check that whether you are eligible for NEST or not from the points given below :-

** Candidate must have either passed class 12th with Science stream or appearing for the same are eligible to apply for NEST.

** If the candidate has passed class 12th then the he/she must have achieved 66% marks in class 12th if belongs to General category and 55% if belongs to any of the reserved categories.

** General and OBC category candidates must have been born on or after August 1, 2001, while candidates of SC/ST/PwD categories get relaxation of 5 years so they should have been born on or after August 1, 1996 to be eligible for NEST.

For complete eligibility criteria kindly check out the link given below :-

Im from general category how many marks i need for clearing NEST 2021 exam for admission in NISER

Shalini Parimal 21st Jul, 2021

Hi Aspirant,

It is a bit difficult to predict anything regarding cutoff for NISER and admission to it unless and until the marks for NEST 2021 are declared because there are a lot of factors on which the cutoff of each year depends number of applicants, total number of seats, etc. However looking at the previous year trends, the minimum admissible percentile or we can say the overall cutoff of 95% is advisable for general category students.

Why people born in 2000 cannot appear in nest 2021

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 21st May, 2021

Hi

I am assuming that you belong to general/obc category.

You are not eligible for  nest examination with your date of birth in 2000.

This is because,
As per eligibility criteria of nest examination , there is age limit according to which those who are from general/OBC category must be born either on or after 1st August , 2001.

But yes,

In case if you belong to Sc or St or pwd  category then with your date of birth in 2000  you will be eligible for NEST examination because for SC/ ST/ PwD category there's a relaxation of 5 years on age limit.

You can get detailed information about nest 2021 eligibility criteria by visiting our page, the link for the same page is provided below  :-
