About: Swami Devi Dyal College of Education (SDDCE), Barwala was established in 2004. Swami Devi Dyal College of Education has grown to accommodate 200 students annually. SDDCE has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The institute offers D.El.Ed, B.Ed and M.Ed and the programmes are affiliated with Kurukshetra University and SCERT, Gurgaon. Candidates will have to meet the eligibility criteria for Swami Devi Dyal College of Education admission to diploma, UG and PG programmes. SDDCE has a dedicated placement cell to bridge the gap between students and top-notch companies across several sectors.

Q. Tell us something about Swami Devi Dyal College of Education.

Ans: Swami Devi Dyal College of Education started functioning in 2004 with an annual intake of 100 students. The seats were increased to 200 in the year 2006. The college is accredited by NAAC. The College is presently offering a Master of Education (M.Ed), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) of the Kurukshetra University and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.\) of SCERT, Gurgaon. Swami Devi Dyal College of Education has been approved and recognised by NCTE (National Council of Teacher Education, New Delhi) & SCERT (State Council of Education, Research and Training Gurgaon).

Q. Tell us something about the Swami Devi Dyal College of Education admission process.

Ans: Swami Devi Dyal College of Education admission procedure is mentioned below:

A) The admission to the M.Ed regular course is made based on marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test (CET-M.Ed.).

B) The admission to the B.Ed regular course is made based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination and shall be conducted through online off-campus counselling by the authorised State University of Haryana.

C) The admission to D.El.Ed regular course is done by the SCERT, Gurgaon based on merit of marks obtained in the 10+2 examination.

Swami Devi Dyal College of Education M.Ed Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should have passed B.Ed or BA B.Ed or B.Sc. B.Ed or B.Com B.Ed examination from Kurukshetra University, or equivalent, with at least 47.5% marks (minimum pass marks 40% for SC/ ST candidates of Haryana only).

Swami Devi Dyal College of Education B.Ed Eligibility Criteria

Candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree or in the Master’s Degree from any recognised university of Haryana and any other state recognised university and 47.5% marks for SC/ ST candidates of Haryana only.

Swami Devi Dyal College of Education D.El.Ed Eligibility Criteria

Admission will be made based on marks obtained in the 10+2 examination and English as a subject is compulsory in 10+2. The counselling will be conducted by SCERT, Gurgaon.

Note for M.Ed/ B.Ed/ D.EL.Ed Groups:

(i) There shall be no rounding off of the percentage of marks of the qualifying examination from 0.5% and above to the next higher number for determining the eligibility i.e. 49.5% and above will not be rounded off to 50%.

(ii) 47.5% marks for SC/ST candidates.
(iii) 45% marks for partially blind/ physically handicapped and visually impaired candidates.
(iv) Compartmental candidates will not be allowed admission to B.Ed (regular course) in any case.

Q. What kind of infrastructure can students expect at Swami Devi Dyal College of Education? Please elaborate.

Ans: Students expect trained faculty, a good library and laboratory, cool water, infrastructure according to Divyang, clean room and toilet etc.

Ans: The steps that are being taken by the institute to reduce the stress include:

Q. Internships are now mandatory as per AICTE guidelines. Does the Swami Devi Dyal College of Education help students with this? If yes how?

Ans: Yes, the internship is mandatory. It's 5 months for BEd, 01 month for M.Ed and 03 months for D.El.Ed. There is scope for jobs at organisations that are engaged in educational administration, promotion, research, regulatory and consulting work, such as the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), State Councils of Educational Research and Training (SCERTs), National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), Educational Consultants India (EdCIL), and UNICEF.

Private sector: The growth of commercial private sector in education has expanded the choice of careers for B.Ed degree-holders.

Content Writers & Counselors: Some employers need academic content writers and academic counsellors.

Dr. Bhawna Joshi has completed her PhD in Education, M.Phil in Education, MA in History, M.Ed had been headed as HOD Education from 2008 to Jan 2024 at Punjab College of Education, Chunni Kalan, presently working at Swami Devi Dyal College of Education as HOD M.Ed. She has 15 years of teaching and administrative experience. I participated in several national seminars, and workshops and published papers in the UGC care listed journal, and other journals and books. She guided M.Ed students in their research work (dissertation) at Punjabi University.
