DU Admission 2016: First merit list for vacant seats announced; Admission window open till July 29
Apratim Chatterjee, 28 Jul 2016, #DU

DU colleges have announced their first merit list for vacant seats in different undergraduate programmes. According to officials, the first round of admissions for the vacant seats will be done in the two day-window- July 28 -July 29, 2016. DU colleges had put up their first merit list of candidates for the vacant seats in late night of July 27, mentioning the candidates’ name, registration number and Best of Four subjects/PCM/PCB marks.

One of the DU colleges, Aryabhatta (formerly Ram Lal Anand College), however, is scheduled to upload the 1st merit-cum-admission list on July 28 evening. The college has said that identification process is time-taking and hence is being delayed. “The process of identification of candidates is taking longer than anticipated and the list will be put up by 4 PM on 28.07.2016,” said Dr. Manoj Sinha, Aryabhatta College, Principal.

The first merit list of DU colleges for admission to the vacant seats were supposed to out by 27th July evening. However, it got delayed due to some online server issues, officials said. DU 2016 admission officials also said that despite clarity in the DU 2016 admission process after 5th cut off, there are yet some confusion among the aspirants regarding the same. Dr. G.S. Tuteja, Deputy Dean Student Welfare (DSW) said, “Several candidates are reaching the north campus of the varsity on July 28 for document verification and admission approval process instead of reaching to their respective colleges.”

Explaining the DU 2016 admission process, he further said that, candidates need to check their names in the 1st merit list as announced by different colleges and visit the respective colleges for the further admission formalities. “It is advised to the candidates not to cancel/withdraw their seats if admitted in any other college till the time their admission has been approved by the latter colleges, else, they will lose their original seat as well,” added Dr. Tuteja while talking to Careers360.

Further, a few candidates are also facing problems in remitting admission fee through the online portal. Sakshi, one of the DU aspirants seeking admission in Ramjas College for BA (H) Political Science says that she could not pay the fees due to some technical problem in the online portal. DU officials, however, said sometimes there are minor issues in the online server. In such cases, candidates should try repeatedly. “We have asked the aspirants to re-attempt their payment, in case any such issue is faced. If in case, the problem persists, they can write it to Dean of Students Welfare or mail it to the following mail ids- [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], mentioning their name, application/registration number, registered e-mail id, transaction id, college and course applied for and name of the bank,” clarified Dr. Tapan Kumar Das, DU Registrar. He also said that they can also write to the e-mail ids in case they have made double payments. “One of the payments will be refunded to their bank account,” added the DU Registrar.

The second merit list for DU 2016 admission in vacant seats will be out by July 30, 2016. Check here for DU 2016 Important Dates.

Delhi University offers admissions to over 54000 undergraduate seats for admission to various courses in as many as 77 colleges of the varsity. Currently, the admission process is on for vacant seats in different colleges through online UG admission portal.

If I want to get admission in BSC honours in mathematics in Delhi University on the basis of percentage scored in class 12th , then what all subjects can I register for the calculation of percentage to be written in Merit list ? Can I register with Mathematics, computer and chemistry ?

Apurv 16th Oct, 2019

Hello Anurag, Yes these three subjects are fine but you need to add one more subject in order to complete the best of four percentage. The rule is that you need one subject related to the course you are applying for, one language course(most of the students have english) and other two courses you can select as any two subjects with maximum marks.
