Delhi University has notified that it expects UG admission process to begin soon once the varsity examines suggestions from different stakeholders to find solutions to the continuing logjam over FYUP.
The University said that it has received suggestions from eminent citizens, outlining some effective solutions to the current crisis over UG programme structure.
On June 25, DU Registrar Ms. Alka Sharma, said, “The University of Delhi has received today a document, from eminent citizens, outlining concrete suggestions for the solution of the current situation as it exists.” Adding to her statement, the registrar also said, “While welcoming this imitative, the University is examining in detail the document and is working with the expectation that the admission process shall be able to commence soon.”

Meanwhile, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has also sent a letter to Delhi University asking the Central University to start admission process immediately. Vikram Sahay, UGC Director (Academics) confirmed that the commission had sent a letter to DU Registrar Alka Sharma directing the official to begin the admissions to the undergraduate programmes at the earliest.
However, the UGC has not specified what ‘beginning the admissions’ mean. As such, it is still unclear that whether the admission process shall begin afresh or the University Colleges shall be releasing their respective cutoffs on the basis of earlier FYUP applications.
Earlier UGC had claimed that 57 colleges of the total 64 affiliated ones under the university had accepted its directions on bringing back the 3-year UG format. But the colleges deferred announcement of their admission cutoff until a crystal clear guideline from the competent authority of the varsity reaches to them.
In the midst of the FYUP controversy, a section of DU Teachers Association is continuing their ‘dharna’ inside university campus against any move to scrap FYUP.
