DU 2016 Admission goes completely online; application begins from June 1

2016 Admission goes completely onlineUniversity of Delhi (DU) 2016 Admissions for undergraduate (UG) programmes have begun from June 1, 2016 in complete online mode. The last date for applications is June 19. This year, the university has done away with the offline admission option that existed till last year. Now, the university has established an online admission portal which will be facilitating the application process which includes online registrations, online applications for selected colleges and also the online fees submission.

Now, DU 2016 admission aspirants will not need to visit colleges for applying in the courses of their choices. According to the DU admission office, the first cut-off and admission list will be announced on June 27, 2016.  The admission committee has also decided to declare only 5 cutoff lists for admissions this year. The admission process is likely to be closed by August 16, 2016.

Why online?

The DU officials said that the decision to go completely online for DU 2016 admissions has been taken by the University as per UGC guidelines and government’s initiative of ‘Digital India’ programme. Dr. J.M. Khurana, Dean, Students Welfare at the Delhi University said, “The University of Delhi admission process for the year 2016 goes online for the very first time. This year, the University is also facilitating aspirants. They will not have to step out of their houses for applying to different colleges. The online process has been designed by an in-house team of five DU students under the guidance of CIC Faculty Prof Sanjeev Singh.”

He added that the online application process also applies to admissions under different quota.

DU Application Fees

DU application fee for General and OBC category candidates is Rs. 100. The same for SC/ST/PwD category candidates is Rs. 50. Candidates seeking admissions under Sports and ECA quota will have to pay an addition fee of Rs. 100 for their applications.

DU to announce only 5 cut-off lists

Under the DU admission process this year, a candidate can apply for as many courses as he wishes to. The admissions, however, will be offered as per the cutoff released by colleges on the scheduled dates. The cutoff shall be calculated on the ‘Best of four’ process.

After declaring cutoff, an admission window of three days will follow where candidates will have to get their documents verified at the respective college and deposit admission fee for the allotted college in online mode. The same process will be followed for each cutoff list that the colleges will declare. The University, this year, has decided to declare as many as five cutoff lists for DU 2016 admissions, after which candidates will have to check the college website admission portal for vacant seats in their preferred courses.

In case of any vacant seats, the candidates will have to re-register online for applying for the vacant seats. There will be no registration fees for the same. The registration for vacant seats will begin from July 20, 2016. For filling these vacant seats, colleges will declare as many as three cutoff lists.

The applicants will also0 have to upload their self-attested documents while applying for admissions online.
