Careers360 University Ranking 2015 brings you a comprehensive list of Top Agricultural Universities in India.

LATEST - Top Agricultural Universities in India 2016 and Top Universities in India 2016

The objective of this rating is to help you find top Agricultural Universities in India and facilitate you in selecting the best Agricultural University for your Bachelor’s and PG degree programmes.

With the setting up of UP Agricultural University (now GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology) in 1960 at Tarai State Farm, Nainital, the first Agriculture University came up in the country on the pattern of ‘land grant’ institutes of the United States. The idea was to reorganize and strengthen the system of agricultural and allied education in India.

Today, there are 40 universities dedicated to agriculture, 12 to veterinary sciences, 4 to horticulture and specialized ones in forestry, dairy, fisheries etc., adding up to around 60. Despite the growth, very few universities match the global standards, particularly in research. Most universities need to divert their efforts on high quality research interface with biotech and nanotech, and engage with manifold stakeholders and super speciality research organizations, corporate houses etc. IARI, IVRI and PAU Ludhiana are good in publication output, while TNAU, IARI and FRI excel in patenting activity. Most of them score well in learning.

The Careers360 University Ranking 2015 list of top Agricultural Universities is based on Careers360's University Ranking 2015 Methodology.
