JNU 2016 Admission Procedure – Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has begun the admission formalities for a number of post graduate programmes in the Central University with inviting application forms from February 8. JNU 2016-17 Admission Procedure shall help you in drawing an overview of the modalities of the PG University admissions.

Check here the admission procedure of JNU 2016 to know the selection criteria including JNU Entrance Exam 2016. Candidates applying for JNU Entrance Exam 2016 need to apply on any of the modes – online or offline with remitting an application fee of Rs. 220 for each programme.

JNU 2016 Admissions – The admissions to as many as 34 post graduate programmes in the Central University will be conducted through entrance examination. JNU Admission Procedure 2016-17 includes invitation of application, followed by conduct of entrance exam, declaration of results, preparation of merit list and ends with final admissions to the PG programmes.


JNU Admission Policy 2016-17 – Let us go through the admission modalities of JNU Entrance Exam 2016-17:

  • Candidates can opt for a maximum of three programmes in a single application form for the same level of programme

  • However, in case any candidate applies for the same level of programme with different applications, the candidature shall be cancelled

  • Jawaharlal Nehru University shall be conducting an entrance exam for shortlisting candidates for each of the post graduate programmes

  • There shall be no viva-voice conducted for the post graduate admissions barring a few including M.A. in Foreign Languages

  • The candidates will be admitted based on the merit list prepared by the Central University after conducting all necessary short-listing process (including viva-voice wherever necessary)

  • The maximum number of candidates who shall be invited for viva-voice will be around three times of the intake of the programme

  • Moreover, a candidate needs to score at least 25% of the total marks in order to be qualify for the viva-voice (17.50 marks in case of M.A. in Foreign Language programmes)

  • The merit list for every programme will be issued for each of the categories– General, SC, ST, OBC and PH, respectively

  • The final selection of candidates is done on the basis of inter-se merit of candidates in their respective categories based on the performance in the JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE) 2016-17 and viva-voice (wherever required)

  • The University issues a single merit list for the candidates; however a second merit list can be issued if any such situation arises and such decision shall be taken by Standing Committee on Admissions

  • A candidate needs a minimum marks for admissions to the post graduate programmes. The table below shall help you in knowing the minimum marks required for the admissions –

  • The University offers the following seats under reservation criteria in various post graduate programmes –

    OBC – 27% of total seats

    Schedule Caste (SC) – 15% of total seats

  • The reserved category candidates will need to submit necessary certificates in support of claiming the reserved seats

Iam 12th pcb student. is there any UG or Integrated course on the basis of PCB 12th in JNU?

I presume you're enquiring about JNU but it doesn't offerr integrated course on the basis of PCB in 12th standard, the integrated courses it offers are based on higher level such as MSc-Phd combination.

Anyway, if you want to go for integrated courses, you can apply for CUCET, top central universities and some other universities of similar level participate in this exam, you can go for integrated BSc-MSc or BSc-BEd, the last date to apply for this is 11th April.

What is the basic syllabus or topics that must be read for JNU Entrance which is now MCQ based for International Relations Area Study?

When it comes to syllabus for Masters of Arts in International Relations and Area Studies,five disciplines are considered such Sociology, Political Science, International Relations, History and Economics with an emphasis on Area Studies in International Relations. There will be sufficient choice in questions for applicants belonging to different aforementioned discipline to be able to attempt the required number of question for which it's level will be of that of graduation.

Can I apply for M.A Economics in JNU even if I didnt have mathematics during my 10+2 ? But I had mathematics during my B.A (Hons) as one paper.

The eligibility criteria for M.A Economics in JNU-

For admissions in M.A Economics programme, candidates must have a Bachelor Degree in any discipline securing at least 50 per cent marks aggregate, with knowledge of Mathematics at 10+2 level.




Hello, I completed 12th class with Maths (Science) in 2017. Can i apply for JNUEE 2020 with B.A. (Hon.) ?

The basic eligibility criteria for appearing in JNU admission to B.A. (H) is that the candidate should have completed (10+2) level or equivalent examination with atleast 45% marks and above from any stream. Even candidates who are waiting to appear in their senior secondary exams or for the results are eligible to apply.
So yes, you can apply for B.A. (H) in any course even if you are from science stream.
And in addition to that, you may need to produce a gap certificate with valid reasons for the time lag of 3 years issued by some higher official authority.

and fill up the online application form for JNUEE2020.
