JAM Application Form 2020 - Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur had re-opened the online window of registration for JAM 2020 application form for J&K candidates on November 22. The last date for such candidates to register and fill the JAM application form 2020 was November 28, 2019. Earlier, IIT Kanpur had opened a correction window of JAM 2020 application form on October 18, 2019. Candidates who wished to make corrections in their JAM application form could do the same until October 28, 2019, by visiting the JOAPS portal. A processing fee was also charged by applicants to make changes in their category, test centres and PwD status in the application form of JAM 2020. The conducting body released the JAM 2020 application form on September 4, 2019, in online mode at joaps.iitk.ac.in. Candidates were required to first complete JAM registration 2020, fill the details, upload the requisite documents and pay the application fee till October 9, 2019 (5.30 pm). JAM 2020 application fee could be paid in online mode either by debit card, credit card or net banking. This year, the number of JAM exam centres has increased to 69 and candidates were allowed to choose three cities while filling the IIT JAM 2020 application form. JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) is the portal to be used to fill the application form of JAM, download admit card and check the result too. IIT Kanpur conducted JAM 2020 on February 9 in online mode. The exam conducting authority has added 145 more seats this year, making it a total of 2445 seats in 20 IITs and IISc Bangalore.

JAM 2020 Application Form - Documents to keep ready

Candidates were required to upload a photograph and signature as well as certain documents while filling the IIT JAM application form 2020. It was important to keep them ready in the specified format and dimensions to fill the application form of JAM 2020 in a smooth manner. The documents and details required to fill the IIT JAM application form 2020 are as mentioned below.

IIT JAM Application Form 2020 - Photograph/ Signature Requirements

  • The colour photograph must be taken after August 01, 2019 in a professional studio.

  • Mobile and other self-composed portraits were not allowed

  • Use the black or dark blue pen for the signature to be uploaded with the JAM application form.

  • The background must be white in colour or any light colour. Other background colours are not allowed.

  • The face of the candidates must occupy at least 50% of the area with a frontal view looking into the camera directly.

  • The face must not be covered by hair, any cloth or any shadow. Forehead, eyes, nose and chin should be clearly visible.

  • Candidates wearing spectacle must remove the specs and get themselves clicked. Candidates should not wear specs with tinted glasses.

How to fill JAM Application Form 2020

Candidates wishing to apply for the exam could fill the JAM 2020 application form in five easy steps. The steps to register and apply for JAM are detailed below along with screenshots to aid all applicants.

Steps to fill the JAM application form

Step 1: Registration

  • Candidates were required to enter their name (first, middle and last name), a valid and active mobile number as well as an email ID during JAM registration. This is to allow IIT Kanpur to send all important notifications through SMS and emails. A password must be entered by candidates for future logins. Candidates may note that the password should be 8 to 15 characters. Candidates were required to avoid using their name, date of birth and string of consecutive numbers or alphabets. IIT Kanpur sends the login credentials through SMS/email.

Step 2: Filling JAM Application Form 2020

  • After successfully registering, the candidates were required to log in through JOAPS by entering their IIT JAM enrolment ID or Email ID and password.

  • Once logged in, candidates could click on the 'Edit Application Form'.

  • Enter the personal details such as name, date of birth, address etc.

  • Candidates needed to choose the JAM papers they wish to appear for.
    Note: Candidates choosing two subjects in the JAM application form 2020 must keep in mind that the examination will be held in two different sessions.

  • Candidates were given an option to choose their JAM 2020 exam centres according to their convenience.

Step 3: Upload photograph and signature:

  • Candidates were asked to upload the scanned images as per the specifications given above.
  • After uploading and successfully filling the JAM application form 2020, the candidates were advised to check the filled-in details carefully.

  • After checking the application form of JAM 2020, the candidates could continue to remit the JAM application form fee online.

  • Candidates could click on ‘Proceed to Payment’

JAM Application Fees 2020

Aspirants had the option to remit the fees of JAM 2020 application form in online mode via Debit Card/Credit Card/Net banking. Candidates were redirected through a Secured Gateway through which they could initiate the payment of the fee of the JAM application form 2020.

After the payment of application fee, candidates received the confirmation of payment in JOAPS portal. Candidates were suggested to take multiple printouts of the fee receipt and soft copy of JAM application form for future references.

How to check JAM Application Status 2020?

Candidates could check the status of JAM application 2020 anytime by using JOAPS portal. Candidates could check the status of JAM 2020 application from September 4, 2019, after the successful submission of the form. With the help of JAM 2020 application form status candidates will be able to check if their applications are under scrutiny, rejected, received or accepted. JAM application status was updated by the conducting body after the verification process.

What If I forget JAM Enrolment ID or Password?

Candidates who may have forgotten their JAM password or enrolment ID could retrieve the same using the steps mentioned below. The option to retrieve JAM password was separate from that of retrieving the Enrolment ID. The steps are as follows

JAM 2020 Application Correction Process

Candidates who wish to make changes in category, gender or exam centres as follows

1. For Test Paper/Gender/Category: IIT Kanpur has opened the correction window to give candidates a chance to for making correction in test paper choice/gender/category. However, the candidates have to pay an extra fee of Rs.500 for making any changes in the application form of JAM 2020 (given below in the table). 2. For Exam Centre Change: The request to change the exam centre which is in the same city/town will not be entertained. Although under exceptional circumstances, a change of centre city/town can be permitted provided the candidates put in a request with a valid reason to the below-given address before the given date. A processing fee of Rs.500 needs to be paid by the candidates to make the changes in test cities. The processing fee will be non refundable and does not guarantee the chane in test centre.

Hi,

iit jam exam is conducted to take admission in M.Sc. (Two Years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, and other Post-UG Degrees Programmes at the IITs of India and Integrated PhD Degree Programmes at IISc, Bangalore.

The eligibility of mathematics at class 10+2 level depend on course in which you want to take admission. For example if you want to take admission to Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Molecular Medical Microbiology for this courses it is not necessary that  you have math at 10+2 level. However for the course  M.Sc.- Ph.D. Dual Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering it is compulsory to have mathematics at 10+2 level.

Yes, a pure PCB student can attempt IIT JAM Examination.

IIT-JAM is an entrance exam conducted by different IITs every year for admission of students in the M.Sc. program in any of the discipline in which you have pursued Bachelor's of Science.

For a GEN/OBC student 55%, or 5.55 out of 10 aggregate marks in their qualifying degree are required to attempt IIT JAM.

For a SC/ST/PWD student 50%, or 5.0 out of 10 aggregate marks in their qualifying degree  are required to attempt IIT JAM.

As mentioned above, if you have done your B.Sc through Biology subjects than also you can attempt IIT JAM and take admission for M.Sc. Biotechnology and Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Atmosphere and Ocean Sciences and many more.

Moreover, the more M.Sc. courses are available for a Mathematics student.

To prepare for IIT jam, you should be well aware of exam pattern and syllabus.

IIT JAM entrance exam is held in computer-based mode, in two sessions - Session 1 and Session 2. The JAM exam 2020 includes three sections - Section A, Section B, Section C. Total questions that will be asked are 60 for a total of 100 marks. Candidates may note that questions will be of multiple-choice and numerical answer type questions.

Since there are many topics, the candidates will be needed to make a table dividing the topics and subjects and allowing them a specific amount of time to go through.

Prepare notes - Preparing notes, both short and long, will help a lot in revising the topics at the end or whenever it is needed.
