JAM 2016 Exam Day Guidelines

JAM 2016 will be conducted online on February 7, 2016 in 7 papers for admissions to the M.Sc programmes at the IITs and IISc Bangalore. Conducted by IIT Madras, JAM 2016 will be held in about 65 cities across the country.  JAM 2016 will also see the use of the virtual calculator that has been introduced this year for the exam.

JAM 2016 will be held in two sessions on February 7, 2016. The first session from 9 am to 12 pm will be held for Biological Sciences (BL), Mathematics (MA) and Physics (PH) Papers while the second sessions from 2 to 5 pm will be held in Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG) and Mathematical Statistics (MS).

Some JAM 2016 Last Minute Preparation Tips:

  • Last minute preparation is intense and requires dedication along with loads of practice. Candidates can check the JAM 2016 Sample Papers and previous year’s paper to enhance their preparation efforts.

  • Maintain low stress levels with the help of meditation, music and relaxation techniques. Remember it is just an exam.

  • It is not the time to start new topics. So concentrate on what you know and leave what you don’t.

  • Last but not least, keep yourself motivated and positive.

Before JAM 2016 Exam:

  • To avoid hassles, we advise a few simple steps that should be taken by all aspirants a day or two before the JAM 2016 exam.

  • First know where your JAM 2016 Exam Centre is. If you are new to the locality or don’t know the exact location, please take time out to go and check it. You can reach on time on the exam day if you know where the JAM 2016 Exam centre is.

  • Make a JAM 2016 KIT comprising of the JAM 2016 Admit Card, the original Photo ID you filled in the JAM 2016 Application Form, pens, pencils etc.

  • Remember calculators, mobiles phones and any electronic devices are not allowed in the exam hall. JAM 2016 has the facility of the inbuilt online calculator that has been introduced this year on.

  • Charts, graph sheets, tables, are also NOT allowed inside the examination hall

  • It is better to take two to three copies of the JAM 2016 Admit Card. The facility will be withdrawn after the exam concludes and candidates may require it at a later stage for admissions etc.

  • On the day of the JAM 2016 exam, reach well before time. Candidates have to report an hour early for the exam on account of the biometric information (thumb impression and photograph) before appearing for the exam.

  • Check the seating arrangements once you reach the JAM 2016 exam hall to understand where you may be seated.

  • All Candidates will be allowed inside 35 minutes before the start of the exam and will be allowed to leave after the exam is completed and not before.

  • Anyone reporting late will not be allowed to appear for the JAM 2016 Exam.

JAM 2016 Pre Exam Instructions:

  • All Candidates will be allowed to login and start reading the given exam instructions 20 minutes before the actual JAM 2016 exam starts.

  • Scribble pads will be provided to all candidates for rough work.

  • Candidates must write their name and registration number on the scribble pad before they start using it.

  • The scribble pad must be returned to the invigilator after the end of the JAM 2016 examination.

Tips to Write the JAM 2016 Exam:

  • To check the entire question paper, candidates must click “View All Questions Button”. It is advisable that candidates check this and plan the sequence of the sections they will attempt.

  • After completion of a full reading of the question paper, candidates must click on the section they wish to attempt.

  • According to JAM Toppers and Experts, it is advisable to start off with the specialization section.

  • Always save the answers after you finish answering. The system will not save them for you.

  • Always note the question numbers that you are doubtful of and wish to attempt later on the scribble pad. This will help you answer them once you are ready.

  • Answer all those questions that you are sure of and know the answers to

  • Once you finish with questions you are sure of, move to the ones that you needed time to answer and start answering them

  • It is a fact that numerical questions require a degree of precision so keep that in mind and calculate very carefully to avoid silly.

  • Don’t waste a lot of time on any question. Complete the ones you know the answers to and then attempt the ones that require some thinking and analysis

  • Negative marking is prevalent in JAM 2016 exam and that’s why you should avoid answering questions whose answers are not known to you..

  • Keep some time by the end of the exam to check your answers.

i want to apply for JAM exam but why the exam date period is very less to apply

IIT JAM exam form for registration was released on 5th September and last date for registration was 12th October. I am sorry to say but there is no possibility to apply for the exam after the last date of registration. Correction window will be open in first week of November.
