Careers360 University Rating/Ranking Methodology – The Indian university system has public universities both at central and state levels, private universities mandated by individual states, deemed universities and institutes declared as having national importance by an Act of Parliament and accorded university status. We look at each one of them for the purpose of this research to find India’s Best Universities.
Assessing the performance of universities is a complex exercise. Among the tangible sources the most widely acceptable parameters for evaluation include:
Publications (refereed journals)
Indian Patents (We have not used US Patents/PCT)
We painstakingly gathered information based on extensive criteria on each of these parameters. Those institutions that had very little or no publications or did not complete five academic years of existence were excluded. The resultant 214 universities were evaluated, based on a complex algorithm and then rated on a five-point scale with five star being the highest rating and one star the lowest.
