Business Chinese Test (BCT) - Apart from the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) exam, the most prominently recognized Chinese test is the Business Chinese Test or BCT. The BCT is a standardized and internationally-recognized test for Chinese language in the business context and environment. The test focuses on non-native Chinese speakers’ language ability in common workplace environments. The BCT is divided into the written and oral test, the former of which is further divided into levels A and B. The written tests are BCT(A) and BCT(B) and focus on Chinese language skills associated with listening, reading and writing. The BCT(Oral iBT) is an internet-based and computer-adaptive test which tests the candidate on the basis of speaking skills in Chinese.
Business Chinese Test (BCT) Registration
In order to register for the BCT, candidates need to follow the given procedure:
Candidates are required to create a Chinese Test account before they can register for the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) or the Business Chinese Test (BCT). In order to create an account, candidates require an email address, password and basic personal details.
Upon account creation, candidates can select the BCT from the various test options. Candidates must then select their preferred test center and test date for the Chinese test.
Further academic, personal and language-related details are required along with a 2-inch recent photograph in order to complete the registration process.
The final step for BCT registration is the payment of the exam fee. The candidates will receive an email confirmation of registration within 10 days of completing the payment.
The candidates can use the Chinese test login ID to print out the BCT admit card or they can pick up the admit card from the selected test center.
It is necessary for candidates to carry the BCT admit card, a government-issued photo ID as well as the requisite stationery items on the day of the test. Candidates who do not have the admit card will not be allowed in the exam hall.

Business Chinese Test (BCT) Result
The result for BCT will be provided to candidates within 4-6 weeks following the date of the Chinese test. The scores will be available online through the candidate’s Chinese test account and the certificate for the BCT will consist the candidate’s pass status as well as score. Candidates must obtain a score higher than the passing score for the specific Chinese test in order to receive a language proficiency certificate in the same. Like other Chinese test certificates, the BCT certificate does not have an expiration date. Therefore, the certificate is essentially valid indefinitely. Despite this, as Business Chinese Test scores/certificates are usually required for professional purposes, most employers further request that the individual should have a satisfactory working knowledge of the Chinese language at the time of the recruitment. Therefore, it is often preferred that the Business Chinese Test has been recently obtained, generally within a period of 2 years or less preceding the time of recruitment.
