INDIA is emerging as a global power with the highest young generation known for its intellectuality. Historically, India had gurukul education system Iand and has been the house of renowned universities like Nalanda and Takshashila. The enormous growth of Indian economy has been coupled with a phenomenal rise in Indian education; still there is a way to go for India to be developed nation. Existing education is rolled between 3 T’s: Teacher, Text and Test. Also in the present system of higher education learners are not choosing areas by their choice and potential but either parents pressure or general trends of the society.

In my point of view there are various areas in Indian education system which needs reformation; the first one is to give a big bye for rote learning process.  Independent learning should be promoted and learners can be made to explore and do research in topics of their interests. Learners should be motivated for creative, critical thinking and problem based learning which is the prime focus of Washington Accord. Curriculum should be updated to enhance quality of education to meet the real time needs and real time applications. Internationalization of curriculum needs to be done for making India a developed nation. Collaborations with foreign universities should be done at higher level to make available the resources for research to Indian learners. Most important is learner who has gone abroad for higher studies needs to be attracted back and hence reward to be given for the one who returns back after higher studies doing abroad.
