BHU PET Eligibility Criteria 2020 - Banaras Hindu University has released BHU PET 2020 eligibility criteria on January 30 along with application forms. The eligibility criteria of BHU PET 2020 is the minimum marks and other requirements which are necessary for appearing in BHU postgraduate entrance test 2020. BHU PET 2020 eligibility criteria may vary depending upon the various PG programmes. Candidates must check the eligibility criteria of BHU PET 2020 before filling the application form. Any candidate who does not meet the BHU PET eligibility criteria 2020 will not be offered a seat even after clearing the cut off marks in the entrance test. Banaras Hindu University Postgraduate Entrance Test will be conducted on April 26, May 10, May 22, May 23, May 24, May 26, May 27 and May 29, 2020. BHU PET Eligibility Criteria 2020 – Faculty of Arts

The Faculty of Arts of the university offers M.A programmes in courses like Hindi English, Bengali, Arabic, German, French, Nepali, Sanskrit, Urdu, Marathi, Persian, Telugu, Pali, Linguistics, History of Art, I.P.R, and Philosophy. Candidates who wish to take admission to any of these subjects offered by the university must follow the given below eligibility criteria -

  • Candidates must have studied B.A. (hons.)/ B.A. under 10 + 2+3 pattern.

  • Candidates must have also secured a minimum aggregate of 50% excluding those subjects which require only passing marks and are not included in the final marksheet, according to the eligibility criteria of BHU PET 2020.

  • For each course applicants must have compulsorily studied a certain subject/ subjects in the qualifying examination. Candidates can go through the below mentioned table which specifies those compulsory subjects for each course.

M.A. in Arabic/ French/ German/ Marathi/ Persian/ Telugu/ Bengali/ English/ Hindi/ Urdu/ Sanskrit/ AIHC & Arch./ Philosophy/ Geography/ Statistics/ Mathematics/ Home Science

  • Applicants must have studied the subject at graduation level to which he/ she seeks admission.

  • For admission in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Russian, Marathi, Persian, Nepali and Telugu,PG Diploma/ Advanced Diploma is required along with B. A degree. Candidates must have also scored at least 50% marks in diploma, advanced diploma programme

  • Shastri Hons. Students will also be eligible for M.A. Sanskrit.

  • Candidates who have studied B.A. (hons.)/ B.A. in the subject Ancient Indian history in all the parts at B.A. level are also eligible for M.A. in Ancient Indian history & Arch.

  • For Statistics, candidates are required to have studied maths at graduation level.

M.A Linguistics

  • Candidates must have also secured a minimum aggregate of 50% excluding those subjects which require only passing marks and are not included in the final marksheet.

  • Those candidates who have done their Post Graduation in any language- literature, Philosophy, Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Computer Science, Forensic Science securing 50% marks are also eligible

M.A in Nepali

Applicants must have completed their B.A. (hons.)/ B.A. from 10 + 2 + 3 pattern/ Shastri (B-level Nepali) with a 1 year bridge course/ PG diploma/ advanced diploma in Nepali and have scored 50% marks both at graduation and diploma levels will be eligible for the course.

M.A. in Indian Philosophy and Religion (IPR)

Applicants must have studied philosophy/ religious Studies as an hons. subject or as a subject in all the three years of graduation.

Or

Candidates who have completed his/ her graduation from a national/ foreign university recognized by BHU with a postgraduate diploma in Indian Philosophy and Religion and scored at least an aggregate of 50% at both graduation and postgraduation level.

M.A. in History of Art

Candidates must have studied History of Art/Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology/ Ancient History, Culture & Archaeology/Archaeology and Ancient History/ Ancient Indian History & Culture/Ancient Indian History & Archaeology/Drawing and Painting/Painting as an hons. subject at the B.A. or as a subject in all the three years at graduation level.

Or

Candidates must have studied BVA/BFA (Visual Arts).

M.A. in Pali

Applicants must have studied Pali/ Buddhist Studies as an hons. subject or a subject in all the three years at graduation level.

  • Any candidate who have passed B.A/ B.Sc./ B.Com/ B.Tech is eligible for admission.

  • They must have scored at least an aggregate of 50% at graduation level except for the subjects which need only pass marks and do not add to scores given in the final marksheet.

M.A in History

  • Applicants must have scored at least an aggregate of 50% at graduation level except for the subjects which need only pass marks and do not add to scores given in the final marksheet.

  • Candidates who have studied B.A.(hons.) in Ancient History/ B.A. with Ancient History as a subject is not eligible for admission into M.A. History.

M.Sc in Psychology

  • Candidates must have scored at least an aggregate of 50% at graduation level except for the subjects which need only pass marks and do not add to scores given in the final marksheet.

  • A candidate having passed B.Sc. (Hons.) Psychology/ B.Sc. with Psychology as hons. subject or a subject studied in all the three years at B.Sc. level is eligible for admission in M.Sc. in Psychology.

  • Graduation in Science, Engineering and Technology and Medical Sciences without Psychology at bachelor’s level is eligible for admission in M.Sc Psychology.

M.A. in Sociology/ Political Science

  • Applicants must have scored at least an aggregate of 50% at graduation level except for the subjects which need only pass marks and do not add to scores given in the final marksheet.

BHU PET Eligibility Criteria 2020 – Faculty of Commerce

Candidates who wish to apply for M.Com. programme offered by the Faculty of Commerce of the university must have a degree in B.Com/ B.Com. (hons.)/ B.Com. (hons.) Financial Markets Management under 10 + 2 + 3 pattern. They should have also secured an aggregate of 50% excluding those subjects which do not add to the score on final marksheet and require only pass marks.

BHU PET 2020 Eligibility Criteria – Institute of Science

The Institute of Science of the university offers PG courses like M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Computer Sciences, Biochemistry, Geology, Geophysics. Candidates who wish to take admission in any of these courses need to fulfil the eligibility criteria given below.

  • Candidates should have studied B.Sc. (Hons.)/ B.Sc. Under 10 + 2 + 3 pattern.

  • They must have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% in all science subjects studied at B.Sc. Level.

  • Additionally, for each course under M.Sc., a candidate must have also studied compulsory subject(s) in the qualifying examination. To know such compulsory subjects for each course, refer to the table below.

M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Geography, Zoology, Psychology, Computer Science, Statistics, Home Science

  • Candidates must have studied the subject which they want to apply for at graduation level.

  • For Zoology and Botany, candidates must have also studied Chemistry at graduation level.

  • For Statistics, candidates must have also had Mathematics at graduation level.

  • For Computer Science, candidates should have studied Computer Science and not IT, Computer Applications at graduation level.

M.Sc. in Biochemistry

  • Applicants must have studied B.Sc. (hons.) Biochemistry or B.Sc. with Biochemistry as a subject under 10 + 2 + 3 pattern.

Or

  • Candidates must have pursued B.Sc. (Hons.) in Botany/ Chemistry/ Zoology or B.Sc. (Bioscience/ Life Science) with Chemistry as a subject studied for at least two years at B.Sc. Level.

M.Sc. (Tech) in Geophysics

  • Applicants must have studied Physics, Maths, and one more subject of Science.

M. Sc. Geology

  • Applicants must have studied Geology as an hons. subject or as a subject studied in all the three years of graduation.

BHU PET 2020 Eligibility Criteria – Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development

The institute offers admission in M.Sc programmes like Environmental Sciences (Earth and Atmospheric Science), Environmental Sciences (Ecological Science) and Environmental Sciences (Environmental Biotechnology). Candidates who wish to take admission in any of these programmes must have completed B.Sc Hons./ B.Sc under 10+2+3 pattern/ B.Sc Hons. Agriculture/ MBBS/ B.Pharma/ B.E/ B.Tech or an equivalent programme offered by Banaras Hindu University with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

  • Candidates with 4 year B.Sc Animal Husbandry and Dairying degree in a credit based course programme will be eligible for admission in M.Sc Animal Husbandry and Dairying

BHU PET Reservation Criteria 2020

There is no requirement for SC/ ST candidates to score any minimum percentage in the qualifying exams, according to reservation criteria of BHU PET 2020. For OBC candidates, there is a relaxation of 5% in the minimum aggregate to be secured in qualifying exams. Given below in the table is the percentage of seats reserved for various reserved category candidates.

BHU PET Eligibility Criteria 2020 – Important Points

  • Candidates belonging to the reserved category need to produce their category certificate at the time of admission.

  • Candidates who are still in the final year of qualifying exam will be allowed to apply for BHU PET 2020. But such candidates will be asked to produce original marksheet of qualifying exam fulfilling the eligibility requirements on the day of counselling. On failing to do so, they will be granted conditional admission to the programme applied for only if:

  1. He/she signs an undertaking that he/ she will be able to produce original marksheet fulfilling the eligibility criteria by 31 October 2020.

  2. It is evident from the candidate’s marksheets of previous examinations related to courses covered in qualifying exams that the candidate has secured at least 50% in such exams. (This will not be necessary for the SC/ST categories).

  3. If candidates admitted conditionally fail to produce the marksheet by the deadline, their admission to the university will be cancelled without any fee refund.

  • Candidates will be required to get a Certificate of conversion from their institution mentioning the converted percentage/ formula of conversion from grade points to numerical if the qualifying exam marksheet of the candidate does not show the equivalent percentage of grade points,

  • Candidates will have to furnish photocopies of both sides of grade or degree sheet which specifies the equivalent percentage/ conversion formula if in case a candidate’s grade sheet shows the converted percentage or the formula of conversion, .

  • The university will also take account of grace marks awarded to the candidate in the qualifying exam aggregate percentage. The final marksheet will act as the sole basis to calculate the aggregate marks. However, in a case where final mark sheets are of more than one type, the total marks obtained in all the subjects studied in three years will be taken to calculate the aggregate. Marks scored by the candidate in subsidiary subjects will also be considered while calculating the aggregate percentage even when the final marksheet is based only on hons subject. In case of any confusion related to computation of aggregate, only the decision taken by the university will be binding.

  • The 10+2 courses of Madrasas approved by Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, will be accepted by BHU.

  • Candidates can apply for multiple programmes, provided he is eligible for each of them, and the entrance tests are on different dates.

  • Candidates admitted into the university are not allowed to pursue any other course alongside from BHU/ other universities.

  • Only the Association of Indian Universities recognized degrees and certificates will be considered equivalent degrees/ certificates.

  • The Distance Education Council of IGNOU will decide the credibility of distance education degrees/ certificates. Candidates studying through distance education will be permitted to appear for the exams provisionally but they will be required to submit certificates approved by Distance Education Council of IGNOU.

  • Under supernumerary category, the seats are reserved for BHU employee wards, Paid seats, Sports seats and Foreign Nationals.

BHU PET Application Form 2020

The university has released the application form of BHU PET 2020 on January 30, 2020. The last date to fill BHU PET 2020 application form is February 29, 2020. BHU PET 2020 candidates have to first check if they fulfil the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. No applications will be entertained after the last date of submission. Only those candidatures will be accepted for those payment will be done by the registered candidates.

Officially there is no particular syllabus mentioned for BHU Entrance Exam however as per the official the level of the exam will be graduation level of the concerned subject.

Hello,

Yes you can appear for NET examination after giving one year LLM as it is considered to be equivalent with 2 year program and the guidelines of UGC says that post graduation is required to appear for the NET exam. The only thing to check is that your University should be approved by the UGC.
